Why have I received a bill from ProPath?
You may receive one bill from your doctor for services performed at his or her office, e.g., the collection and preprocessing of a specimen. You may receive a second bill from ProPath for the completion of laboratory, interpretative and diagnostic tasks (requested by your doctor) pursuant to your specimen. Please remember that both your doctor and his or her supporting specialists have separate fee structures and billing procedures.

Bills from ProPath Services are generally for outpatient laboratory testing (such as biopsies and Pap smears) performed at your physician's office or a surgery center.
Bills from ProPath Associates, our hospital-based pathology practice, are for the professional services relating to laboratory testing performed at various area hospitals. if you recently had a hospital encounter (either inpatient or outpatient), you may very likely receive a bill from ProPath as our pathologists direct several hospital laboratories.
I paid my co-pay at the doctor's office. Why am I getting a bill from ProPath?
Copayments typically cover physician office visits only. Any patient responsibility, typically deductible and/or coinsurance, based on your member agreement with your health plan will be billed to you once your insurance has processed your claim. This will be reflective on your billing statements as well as your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance.
Why have I received a bill when I have insurance that covers my laboratory testing?
Please remember that insurance plans have varying benefit levels and only you can be sure your insurance company processed your claim according to your plan provisions. If you feel your claim was processed incorrectly, please contact your insurance company.
Does ProPath accept my insurance?
ProPath is a participating provider with most insurance companies.
I have a secondary insurance plan. Does ProPath file those claims for me?
ProPath will file all primary and secondary claims on your behalf. Once all plans have processed your claim, you will be billed for any remaining portion.
I have Medicare or Medicaid. What will I have to pay?
Medicare patients must meet their annual deductible and a 20% coinsurance. If you have a secondary plan, please let us know.
Medicaid patients will have no out-of-pocket expenses.
Can ProPath tell me how much my tests will cost?
It is difficult to estimate the total cost of ordered tests. The pathologist may see the need to special stains or additional testing to be performed in order to be able to render a diagnosis.
What method of payment does ProPath accept?
ProPath accepts checks, money orders, VISA or Master Card. (PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH AS WE CANNOT ENSURE ITS SAFE DELIVERY.)

The "explanation of benefits" that I received from my insurance is different from the information on my ProPath bill. What should I do?
Please remember that your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from your insurance is not a bill. If ProPath determines your insurance processed your claim incorrectly, we will appeal to your insurance on your behalf. Do not pay anything until you have received a billing statement from ProPath.
Does ProPath have a program for patients experiencing financial hardship?
ProPath understands that sometimes families are under financial hardships. For this reason, we have various payment arrangements available for patients with no insurance, limited coverage, or whose insurance may not cover the tests performed.
Will ProPath provide me a discount if I don't have insurance?
ProPath has various discount programs available for uninsured patients.
