Biography

ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Amanda K. Hernandez, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Hernandez is a double board-certified pathologist who brings professional medical and teaching experience to her position.

Dr. Hernandez graduated with a Bachelor of Science in clinical laboratory science from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, followed by a Master of Science in molecular pathology from the same institution. She then earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX. She served an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, where she was chief resident. After that, Dr. Hernandez completed her fellowship in dermatopathology from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hernandez has professional medical and teaching experience. While at UPMC, she taught during the dermatology resident conferences. Following her postgraduate training, she started as a pathologist at Morristown Pathology Associates in Morristown, New Jersey. Dr. Hernandez has been a member of the ProPath pathology team since 2017.

Dr. Hernandez has peer-reviewed manuscripts in prestigious medical journals such as the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Journal. She has also presented multiple abstracts at professional conferences, including meetings of the American Society of Dermatopathology, Society of Pediatric Pathology, and the International Society of Dermatopathology. She published a book chapter on incontinentia pigmenti in Cases in Dermatopathology: Pediatric Dermatopathology.

Dr. Hernandez holds full medical licensure and is board certified in dermatopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Boards of Pathology and Dermatology.
