Biography
ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include W. Frederick Bierbaum, M.D., F.C.A.P., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Bierbaum is an award-winning, double-board-certified pathologist who brings extensive professional medical and leadership experience.
Dr. Bierbaum graduated with a bachelor’s in biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in cytopathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York.
Dr. Bierbaum has held a variety of pathologist positions and medical directorships during his career. Following his postgraduate training, he was a pathologist at Tarrant Pathology Associates in Fort Worth, Texas, before taking a position as a pathologist at Ameripath Oklahoma City. He has held the appointment of medical director at several different institutions. He was the medical director at USMD Hospital at Fort Worth in Texas and at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, positions he held concurrently. Dr. Bierbaum is currently the medical director of laboratory at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth and the medical director at Texas Health Hospital Clearfork in Fort Worth. He was awarded the Top Doctor award from 360 West Magazine two years in a row, 2021 and 2022. Dr. Bierbaum has been with ProPath since 2014.
Dr. Bierbaum belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, American Society for Clinical Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, among others.
Dr. Bierbaum holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and cytopathology by the American Board of Pathology.
