Biography

ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Bahram R. Oliai, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Oliai brings extensive professional experience and a robust list of peer-reviewed publications. He is ProPath’s director of UroDiagnostics.

Dr. Oliai earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, IL. He served a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed a fellowship in surgical pathology, also at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. This was followed by a cytopathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, New York. He has further speciality training in genitourinary pathology in Dr. Jonathan Epstein’s GU consult service in the Division of Genitourinary Pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Oliai started as a pathologist at Associated Pathology Consultants in Elmhurst, Illinois, after his second fellowship. During this time, he was also the medical director of microbiology at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. While at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, he was a member of the infection control and LIS committees. Dr. Oliai has been a pathologist at ProPath in Dallas, Texas, since 2006. During this time, he has also held a teaching appointment at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as a clinical assistant professor.

Dr. Oliai has a considerable amount of publications in peer-reviewed journals and two book chapters. He has published manuscripts in a wide variety of journals including the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Head Neck Pathology, Human Pathology, and the International Journal of Surgical Pathology, among others. Dr. Oliai also has two book chapters, one on immunohistochemistry in Diagnostic Dermatopathology: A Guide to Ancillary Tests Beyond the H&E. The other is on the subject of renal pathology in Practical Renal Pathology: A Diagnostic Approach. He has published abstracts in Modern Pathology and presented at an annual meeting of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, along with a web publication in Case Studies in Flow Cytometry.

Dr. Oliai is a member of several professional organizations. These include the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, College of American Pathologists, the International Society of Urologic Pathology and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Oliai holds full medical licensure and is board certified in cytopathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
