Biography

ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Swetha Paluru, M.D., as part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Paluru is an award-winning, board-certified pathologist with multiple publications in prestigious medical journals.

Dr. Paluru graduated with her medical degree from the Government Medical College in Anantapur, India. She served her anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. She completed two fellowships, a general surgical pathology fellowship and a genitourinary pathology fellowship, both at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Paluru also has an executive certificate in healthcare leadership and management from Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Paluru brings professional diagnostic experience and award-winning work in pathology to her position. She was a surgical pathology assistant at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following her fellowships, she held a position as a clinical associate in The Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Pathology. During her time as a clinical associate, Dr. Paluru also held a position as a pathologist at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland. Prior to joining ProPath, she held the position of medical director and chair of pathology at Howard County General Hospital, during which time she won the Armstrong Award for excellence in quality and safety, and was a lecturer of breast pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. Paluru has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals including Human Pathology, The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, and Histopathology. She’s also presented numerous abstracts at the annual meetings of organizations such as the College of American Pathologists and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology.

Dr. Paluru holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.
