Biography
ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is privileged to include Kirtesh Patel, M.D., as a part of its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Patel is a board-certified pathologist who brings robust professional medical and leadership experience.
Dr. Patel graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. George’s, Grenada. He then served his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. This was followed by a fellowship in hematopathology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and a gastrointestinal and surgical pathology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Patel has held positions in a variety of healthcare settings. He was a clinical instructor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he taught gastrointestinal pathology. Prior to joining ProPath, he was a staff pathologist at Delta Pathology Group in Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Patel has extensive leadership experience. He was the medical director of laboratory at Minden Medical Center in Minden, LA. He has been a pathology representative on numerous cancer tumor conferences at the Willis Knighton Cancer Center and the Christus Health Cancer Treatment Center.
Dr. Patel has peer-reviewed manuscripts published in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology and Pathology Research International. He has presented abstracts at meetings of the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists and the College of American Pathologists.
