Biography

ProPath, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Carrie Chenault, M.D., F.C.A.P., as part of its dynamic medical staff. She is an award-winning, double board-certified pathologist and ProPath’s medical director. She brings a wealth of professional medical and leadership experience to her position.

Dr. Chenault graduated with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She subsequently earned her medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. She completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where she served as co-chief resident. She then completed two fellowships, both at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The first was in hematopathology, followed by a second in surgical pathology.

Dr. Chenault began her career as a pathologist with ProPath in Dallas, a position she has held since 2007, and is now the medical director of both ProPath Associates (PPA) and ProPath Services (PPS), positions she has held since 2017. During her tenure, she has also held a number of medical directorships at various institutions throughout Texas. She started as the PPS medical director of Texas Health Surgery Center Dallas and held that position for 12 years. She concurrently held multiple other directorships during her time there, beginning with the position of PPS medical director at Weatherford Regional Medical Center. Overlapping with her time there, she was the medical director of Medical City Lewisville and the Flower Mound Emergency Center. During her positions there, she was also appointed to be PPS and PPA medical director for Medical City Lewisville. She then returned to Weatherford Regional Medical Center as the PPS and PPA medical director. She also held medical directorships at the Pine Creek Medical Center—Frozen Lab and the Pine Creek Diagnostic Imaging Center, both in Dallas. She was a presenter on the tumor board and sat on the blood utilization review, cancer, and medical executive committees at Medical City Lewisville, and sat on the executive committee at Pine Creek Surgery Center. While at ProPath, she was honored as a 2020 Best Doctor in D Magazine.

Dr. Chenault has multiple peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals such as Modern Pathology and has presented abstracts at a number of professional conferences.

Dr. Chenault belongs to professional organizations such as the College of American Pathologists and the North Texas Society of Pathologists.

Dr. Chenault holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematopathology.
